Juvèderm Volbella®

Consultations offered at our two convenient locations in Carnegie Hill and Flatiron, NY

Juvéderm Volbella® is a long-lasting dermal filler made from hyaluronic acid. Volbella® is formulated specifically for plumping the lips and treating the delicate skin around the mouth. Volbella® combines different weights of hyaluronic acid to give lips a smoother, natural feel while plumping the lips and filling the vertical lines around the mouth. Juvéderm Volbella® is the thinnest of all of the Juvéderm® fillers. Juvéderm Voluma®, Juvéderm® Ultra, and Juvéderm® Ultra Plus would be too thick to treat the lips. Our NYC dermatologists of Dermatology, Laser & Surgery of Carnegie Hill can help determine which filler is right for you.

Procedure

Juvéderm Volbella® is the ideal filler for the lips. If you’re frustrated by vertical creases around your mouth, commonly called lipstick lines or smokers’ lines, Volbella® lip filler can help. Volbella® can achieve fuller, plumper lips while still feeling and looking natural. Juvéderm Volbella® is a hyaluronic acid filler, which is a sugar that is found naturally in the body. Hyaluronic acid absorbs water, delivers nutrients, and acts as a cushioning agent. Hyaluronic acid injections can encourage the production of collagen and elastin to plump the skin and help reduce wrinkles over time.

The thin consistency of Juvéderm Volbella® makes it highly effective for treating areas of the face such as the lips and under the eyes. When injected strategically by an experienced dermatologist, Juvéderm Volbella® can provide significant improvements to thinning lips, uneven lips, fine lines, and much more. The results of Juvéderm Volbella® are long-lasting and natural-looking.

Additionally, if you have just had laser treatment, deep chemical peeling, or dermabrasion, then you should not receive dermal fillers. If you’re pregnant, breastfeeding, or plan to become pregnant, you should speak with your doctor before opting for Volbella® injections. If you’ve ever had an allergic reaction to any type of cosmetic injectable, you should share this with your doctor. Anyone who has recently used blood thinners or has a bleeding disorder should avoid dermal fillers.

Results

Juvéderm Volbella® will last longer for some patients than others. The lasting power of Juvéderm Volbella® depends on a variety of factors, including age, metabolism, overall health, skin quality, and more. On average, Juvéderm Volbella® can last up to a year. Over time, you may need less frequent visits and smaller doses thanks to the collagen-boosting benefits of Volbella® treatments. *

To maximize the results of Juvéderm Volbella®, patients should ensure they follow the specific aftercare instructions provided by their dermatologist. Although the Juvéderm Volbella® treatment is non-invasive and requires no downtime, patients should avoid strenuous exercise in the days following their injections. Additionally, patients should avoid excessive sun exposure. Patients should not lay face down for at least 24 hours following their treatment.

Recovery

Juvéderm Volbella® can be administered in as little as 15 minutes and requires no downtime. In most cases, patients are able to resume their daily activities immediately. Juvéderm Volbella® contains lidocaine to ensure patient comfort throughout the treatment. Your dermatologist will use a very fine needle to inject Juvéderm Volbella®.

Following the treatment, patients may experience mild bruising, swelling, or redness surrounding their injection sites. In very rare cases, some patients may experience an allergic reaction to Juvéderm Volbella®. If you are experiencing signs of an allergic reaction after your Juvéderm Volbella® treatment, you should contact a doctor immediately.
