PRP Hair Restoration
Consultations offered at our two convenient locations in Carnegie Hill and Flatiron, NY

PRP (platelet-rich plasma) for hair loss in NYC can give you a fuller, thicker head of hair. Many patients prefer to undergo PRP hair restoration over more invasive hair transplant procedures. PRP hair restoration is a natural solution for hair loss that uses your own plasma to boost hair growth factors. The team at Dermatology, Laser & Surgery of Carnegie Hill offers PRP for hair loss for men and women.

Procedurre
Our blood is full of plasma which contains platelets and white blood cells. Both platelets and white blood cells are rich in growth factors that help encourage hair regrowth. Platelet-rich plasma’s restorative properties have typically been used for damaged tendons, tendonitis, arthritis, joint pain, facial rejuvenation, and muscle pain. Now, PRP helps patients restore lost hair volume with great success. PRP stimulates hair follicles by resetting the growth cycle. Because the PRP hair restoration method is administered via injection, it is effective at restoring targeted areas of hair loss.

Benefits

One of the benefits of PRP hair restoration patients enjoy is how non-invasive it is. Traditional forms of surgical hair restoration leave scars, have longer recovery times, and can be quite lengthy. PRP hair loss restoration is non-surgical, resulting in less downtime and recovery. PRP is a natural form of hair restoration that can deliver results similar to surgical hair restoration procedures. Patients can receive PRP hair restoration and seamlessly continue with their daily activities.

Other Procedures
Absolutely! Many patients opt to combine hair restoration methods in conjunction with PRP hair restoration to see the most transformative results. PRP hair restoration in NYC can be combined with the LaserCap LCPRO, NeoGraft, and hair transplant surgery. Our team at Dermatology, Laser, & Surgery of Carnegie Hill can help you determine the proper treatments for your hair restoration goals.
Treatment Duration
The number of treatments required depends on how much hair loss has occurred. As with many health routines, the best results are found for patients that seek consistent treatment. Patients typically start with PRP hair restoration treatments once a month. After a few months in, hair regrowth progress will be assessed to determine the frequency of treatments needed moving forward. It may be suitable to receive PRP hair treatments every 3 to 6 months after substantial regrowth. Dr. Elie Levine can discuss this in more detail during your in-office consultation.
Anesthesia
General anesthesia is not recommended for NYC PRP hair restoration. Local anesthesia is used to make sure patients are comfortable during their procedure.
Ideal Candidate
If you have mild-to-moderate hair loss and wish to obtain hair regrowth naturally, then PRP hair restoration may be right for you. PRP hair restoration is typically used for genetic hair loss, otherwise known as androgenic alopecia. It can also be used for hair loss caused by stress, diet, or other factors. PRP may not be as suitable for those with extremely thin hair or complete baldness. At a certain point, long dormant hair follicles may only be revived by surgical hair restoration procedures.
Expect
Patients will have their blood drawn to obtain platelet-rich plasma. Once the blood is retrieved, it will be placed in a device that separates the plasma from red blood cells. The plasma will then be administered into thinning areas on the scalp. This process will usually take less than an hour to perform.
Post Procedure
Patients will first experience hair shedding following PRP hair treatment. This is the scalp’s way of creating room for newer, healthier hairs to appear. They also may experience signs of early regrowth in the first month or so. Patients should see more substantial results 3 to 6 months after their procedure. Results vary month to month for each patient. Dr. Elie Levine can monitor your PRP hair regimen to ensure the best results.
