Vein Treatment
Consultations offered at our two convenient locations in Carnegie Hill and Flatiron, NY

Laser vein treatment in NYC can treat spider veins and varicose veins in the legs, hands, face, arms, and more. Spider veins and varicose veins take on a red or blue throbbing appearance. Spider veins and varicose veins become more present as we get older. Besides giving an unwanted appearance, spider and varicose veins can also start to cause discomfort the longer they’re left untreated. Laser vein treatment can help diminish the appearance of your spider and varicose veins for a smoother, radiant complexion.

Procedure
NYC laser vein treatment sends a thin beam of light energy to spider and varicose veins. This causes spider and varicose veins to close and shrink, which allows surrounding skin tissue to become more prominent. Laser vein treatment works well for any area with visible spider or varicose veins.
Spider Veins
- Smaller, Thinner Veins
- Can Appear Blue, Purple, or Red
- Often Found Around the Face or Legs
- Can be Uncomfortable Over Time
Varicose Veins
- Bulging, thick veins
- Can be blue or match skin pigmentation
- Commonly found in the legs
- Can cause throbbing, aching, and other painful symptoms
Effects On Blood Flow

Laser vein treatment is a minimally invasive procedure that will not negatively affect circulation.* When spider veins and varicose veins disappear, the blood that once flowed through these veins will circulate to neighboring veins. The body naturally accommodates by shifting circulation.
Technology
The best laser to use for spider and varicose veins is the Multi-Spot™ Nd:YAG. It is part of the M22™ laser platform. The Multi-Spot™ Nd:YAG is great at reducing the appearance of spider and varicose veins for all skin types and complexions. It is also known for treating vascular lesions.
Overview
The Multi-Spot™ Nd:YAG uses advanced technology called Multiple Sequential Pulsing (MSP). MSP uses infrared light that is capable of pulsing into the deep layers of the dermis. Being able to reach deep into the dermis allows spider and varicose veins to dissipate. MSP is also an effective treatment for vascular lesions, and facial wrinkle reduction. Light energy sent to the dermis increases collagen and elastin production, which has benefits for wrinkles and overall skin complexion.
Benefits
- Relief from leg cramps and swelling
- No need for compression socks
- Minimally-invasive
- Improved sleep
- Increased confidence
- Can treat large areas
Other Treatments
At Dermatology, Laser & Surgery of Carnegie Hill, we offer more than just laser vein treatment options. While laser vein treatment is extremely effective, some patients may find other treatments suitable for diminishing the appearance of spider and varicose veins. Our NYC dermatologists can discuss the best treatment option for you during your in-office consultation. Other options available for vein treatment include:
- Sclerotherapy: Uses an injection to make spider and varicose veins collapse. Once the injection is inserted, blood from spider and varicose veins will disperse to surrounding healthier veins. Sclerotherapy is an in-office treatment and may have the best results with multiple sessions.
- Endovenous Ablation Therapy: Using laser technology or radio waves, endovenous ablation therapy diminishes the appearance of spider and varicose veins. A thin tube is inserted into the skin. Once the tube is properly placed, radio energy creates heat that closes off any spider and varicose veins.
- Endoscopic Vein Surgery: During endoscopic vein surgery, a small camera is inserted into the affected vein. Once the proper position is found, our dermatologist will use a surgical device to close off the vein. This procedure is suitable for patients that have skin ulcers.
- Ambulatory Phlebectomy: For more serious cases of spider and varicose veins, ambulatory phlebectomy may be recommended. Superficial spider and varicose veins that are close to the surface of the skin will be surgically removed using small cuts and excisions.
- Vein Stripping & Ligation: During vein stripping, spider veins and varicose veins will be surgically tied together before they are removed. This procedure is typically reserved for more extreme cases of unwanted veins.
Preventing Spider Veins
Many factors can contribute to the development of spider and varicose veins. These veins can develop from genetics, medical conditions, or lifestyle factors. People who are overweight, have circulation issues, or stand for long periods of time also have a greater risk of developing spider or varicose veins.
Medical Cream Effectiveness
Medical creams and ointments can be an effective form of vein treatment. Creams and ointments are commonly used as a post-procedure measure when used in conjunction with other vein treatments. Our New York City dermatologists can help recommend medical ointments that will help treat spider and varicose veins and improve your overall skin complexion.
