RADIESSE®
Consultations offered at our two convenient locations in Carnegie Hill and Flatiron, NY

Radiesse® is a “collagen-stimulating filler,” which means that this dermal filler gives an immediate filling effect and stimulates the body’s production of collagen. This dual functionality results in a longer-lasting cosmetic effect. Radiesse® is a calcium-based filler containing calcium hydroxyapatite, a mineral-like compound that occurs naturally in human bones. Radiesse® has a thicker density and is most commonly used for nasolabial folds, marionette lines, frown lines, sunken cheeks, and hand rejuvenation. As Radiesse® is plumping your skin, it’s also stimulating the collagen in your skin, which makes it a highly sought-after dermal filler.
Procedure
Aging, along with a variety of environmental factors including sun exposure and smoking, can cause the skin to lose volume over time. As a result, skin elasticity declines and we are left with hollowness and wrinkles. Radiesse® is made of calcium hydroxyapatite (CaHa) gel microspheres. CaHa is made up of ions of phosphate and calcium, which occur naturally in the human body. Lidocaine, a local anesthetic, is combined with Radiesse® to provide more comfort both during and after injection. Radiesse® stimulates collagen production beneath the skin and allows for long-term anti-aging results.
Radiesse® injections are relatively quick. A topical anesthetic may be applied to the treatment area to help reduce any discomfort. Once that takes effect, the Radiesse® filler is injected into the target area through a fine needle. Treatments typically last fifteen to forty minutes. The injection should add volume and definition to the target area immediately. Most patients feel minimal discomfort both during and after the injection.*

Safety
Radiesse® is FDA-approved and safe for use. You should not receive Radiesse® if you’re allergic to any component of the product. Patients choosing Radiesse® for correcting volume loss in their hands should discuss the effects, risks, and benefits with their doctor. Radiesse® should not be administered directly after laser treatment, deep chemical peeling, or dermabrasion. If you’re pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to become pregnant, you should speak with your doctor before opting for any dermal fillers. If you’ve ever had an allergic reaction to any type of dermal filler, you should share this with your doctor. Anyone who has recently used blood thinners or has a bleeding disorder should avoid cosmetic injectables.
Results
Radiesse® is a long-lasting dermal filler in NYC that fills hollow areas of the face, plumps the skin, and provides natural-looking anti-aging results. Following Radiesse®, patients will see results immediately and full results can be seen within 2 weeks. Over time, the results of your Radiesse® will fade and you may need to return for touch-ups.
After receiving Radiesse®, patients can enjoy the results for over a year, sometimes even 2 years. Because the ingredients in Radiesse® naturally-stimulate collagen production, the longevity is drastically longer than other dermal fillers. To maximize the lasting power of Radiesse®, patients should carefully follow the aftercare instructions provided by their dermatologist.
Recovery
Radiesse® is non-invasive, so there is no downtime required. Injections are quick and relatively painless. Your dermatologist will apply a topical anesthetic to ease any discomfort and use a fine needle to ensure patients remain comfortable during the injections and experience very minor side effects following the procedure. Most patients experience very little discomfort during and after the Radiesse® treatment.
Following the Radiesse® treatment, patients may experience minor redness, swelling, and bruising. However, these side effects are normal and should subside in the days following your procedure. In rare cases, small bumps may occur beneath the skin at the injection site. Any temporary discoloration or irritation caused by the injections can be easily covered with makeup.
