Jeuveau

Jeuveau® is a neurotoxin identical to Botox® in its formulation. Jeuveau® is the first neurotoxin to be released by a company dedicated to aesthetics, as opposed to a medical company dedicated to treating medical conditions, such as migraines, muscle spasms, and the like. Jeuveau® is designed to treat the appearance of moderate-to-severe wrinkles between the eyebrows, otherwise known as “frown lines.” Jeuveau® injections can temporarily improve the appearance of these wrinkles, providing rejuvenating results for those struggling with glabellar lines.

Procedure

Over time, the repetition of specific facial movements can contribute to the development of fine lines, wrinkles, and even deep creases on the face. Smiling, laughing, furrowing our brows, and frowning are just some of the facial expressions we use every day that can be increasing the severity of these signs and cause us to look older than we feel. Jeuveau® can treat the appearance of wrinkles that surface between the eyebrows, often referred to as “frown lines” by temporarily relaxing the repetitive facial movements that create creases in the skin.

Similar to Botox®, Jeuveau® is made from the bacteria that causes botulism. The primary substance used in Jeuveau® injections is botulinum toxin A. This substance is carefully extracted, purified, and standardized into FDA-approved doses. Since these doses are small, they do not travel further than the treatment area. When injected, Jeuveau® prevents the contraction of muscle cells by blocking nerve activity.

Safety

Jeuveau® is a safe and effective FDA-approved treatment for wrinkles. You should not receive Jeuveau® if you have had an allergic reaction to botulinum toxin in the past. If you have an infection, swelling, or muscle weakness in the treatment area, you should not undergo Jeuveau® treatment. Additionally, patients who are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding should speak with a doctor before opting for Jeuveau® injections.

Results

Jeuveau® injections can take anywhere from 10-20 minutes to complete, depending on the severity of the patient’s wrinkles, as well as a variety of other factors. The procedure is non-invasive and can be completed in-office. Following your Jeuveau® injections, it can take between 2-4 days for your results to become visible. After about a week, patients should notice dramatic improvements to their facial profile.

The results of Jeuveau® typically last 4-6 months. However, it is important to note that results will vary from patient to patient. The more units of Jeuveau® a patient receives, the longer their results may last. However, depending on the severity of your wrinkles, as well as your goals for the procedure, our dermatologist will discuss how many units of Jeuveau® are right for you. Multiple treatments may be necessary to maintain the results of your Jeuveau® injections.

Recovery

Jeuveau® is injected beneath the skin to limit muscle contractions and provide patients with a smoother-looking complexion. Following Jeuveau®, no downtime is required and patients are able to return to their daily activities immediately. Mild redness, bruising, swelling, and redness are normal to occur in the days following your Jeuveau® injections.

To maximize the results of your Jeuveau® injections, it is recommended that patients visit the office every 3-4 months for a follow-up. This way, our doctors can assess the results and lasting power of the Jeuveau® and better formulate a treatment plan, if needed.
